Lost Monuments
The mechanical wreckage of aircraft that once punctuated the mountains of Wales is now mostly gone, WWII enthusiasts and visiting collectors of such memorabilia have removed it and re-presented it elsewhere. Not only has this action created dislocation, it has also diminished the relevance, context and significance of the events that occurred there.
They previously existed as physical markers to a tragic incident, sculptural objects that dwelt in the beauty of the surrounding landscape. The reproduction of these mechanical forms, is an attempt to reinstate these emotive pieces or ‘lost monuments’ to their original locations.
